ACER CAMPESTRE: QUEEN ELIZABETH MAPLE

ACER CAMPESTRE:
QUEEN ELIZABETH MAPLE

Acer campestre ‘Queen Elizabeth’ is a cultivar of the field maple, also known as the hedge maple or common maple. This small to medium-sized deciduous tree typically grows to a height of 10 to 15 meters, with a spread of 8 meters. The tree has a dense, round crown and a straight trunk that can reach up to 50 cm in diameter.

The leaves of the ‘Queen Elizabeth’ maple are medium green and five-lobed with serrated edges. In the autumn, the leaves turn a beautiful yellow-orange color. The tree blooms in late spring to early summer, producing small clusters of yellow-green flowers, which are followed by winged fruits called samaras.

This cultivar is particularly notable for its compact habit, making it suitable for smaller gardens and landscapes. It is also tolerant of pollution, making it a good choice for urban areas. With its attractive foliage and manageable size, the ‘Queen Elizabeth’ maple is a popular choice for ornamental planting.
